Henley Construction Management Group Supports Morgan Sindall at Dixons Careers Event

A Great Day at Dixons Academies Trust!

Henley Construction Management Group was proud to support Morgan Sindall Construction at this week’s careers event hosted by Dixons Academies Trust in Leeds.

Our Social Value Manager, Jessica Cowling, spent the morning speaking with Year 8 students about roles in construction, the diverse skills the industry needs, and the many career pathways available—from technical and trade positions to project and site management. Her aim: to help inspire the next generation of construction professionals.

We were thrilled to receive such positive feedback from the school. Jennifer Smith, Assistant Vice Principal at Dixons Unity Academy, said:

“I just wanted to thank you all so much for attending on Tuesday. Year 8 LOVED meeting you all and you have left our students inspired for their future.”

Events like these are a vital part of our commitment to social value and community engagement. It was a privilege to be part of a day focused on informing and inspiring young people as they begin to think about their futures.

A big thank you to Dixons Academies Trust for hosting such a brilliant event, and to Morgan Sindall for inviting us to be involved.

Henley Group: Supporting the next generation

At Henley Group, we take great pride in supporting our valued client, Morgan Sindall, by mentoring five students from a local college as part of the West Bromwich Town Hall renovation project. Our commitment to social value and responsibility is at the forefront of this initiative, ensuring that local landmarks are not only preserved but also serve as a platform for upskilling local talent.

Empowering the Next Generation

The restoration of West Bromwich Town Hall and Central Library, spearheaded by Morgan Sindall, offers a unique opportunity for apprentices to gain hands-on experience in heritage restoration. This project is more than just preserving historic buildings; it’s about empowering the next generation of skilled professionals in the construction industry.

Henley Group’s role in this project involves heritage window replacements and plastering, tasks that are critical to the building’s restoration. By involving Sandwell College students in these activities, we provide them with invaluable real-world experience and mentorship from industry experts.

 Social Value and Community Impact

One of the key focuses of this project is its social value. By integrating local apprentices into the project, we ensure that the benefits of restoration funding extend beyond the buildings themselves. This initiative helps to upskill local students, offering them the chance to work on live sites and gain practical knowledge that will serve them throughout their careers.

Apprentice Experiences

Sandwell College students have expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to work on such a significant project and it was great to know we’ve been a small part of their career journey so far. Let’s hope more companies out there get proactive in supporting the next generation too.

Their experiences highlight the importance of providing young professionals with opportunities to learn and grow within their communities. This hands-on approach not only enhances their skills but also instills a sense of pride and accomplishment.

 A Commitment to the Future

Henley Group is dedicated to fostering talent and supporting the future of the construction industry. We believe that investing in local people and offering real-world training is essential for both individual growth and community development. Our collaboration with Morgan Sindall on the West Bromwich Town Hall project exemplifies our commitment to these values.

By supporting local apprentices and ensuring they receive the training and experience needed to succeed, we contribute to the sustainability and growth of our industry. Together, we are building a brighter future for our community and the next generation of construction professionals.

HENLEY GROUP PRESENTS TO STUDENTS AT LONDON SOUTH BANK UNIVERSITY , AND WE TAKE A LOOK BACK THROUGH THE ARCHIVES…

Henley Group was invited to talk to first-year students at the highly acclaimed London South Bank University to help educate the next generation of construction professionals on important topics such as emerging technologies, sustainable construction, and project management.

Our highly experienced Senior Project Manager Jim Wenham and Contracts Manager Josh Peach led the talk whilst showcasing some of Henley Group’s incredible projects completed over the years.

Our team passed on valuable ‘Real World’ experiences and demonstrated how Henley Group always strives to deliver projects of the highest quality and hopefully, their talk inspired those attending on why ‘doing it the right way’ is always the best way.

Shaun Henley,  Henley Group Founder adds:

“The sustainability of the construction industry is everyone’s responsibility, apprentices or newly qualified individuals are not ‘cheap labour’, they form the early foundations of our most precious industries’ future.

Trades and skills must be nurtured as we help shape the life and future of every individual breaking into this industry.

We must ensure that the right level of time and attention is given to teaching the next generation of construction professionals correctly, and then one day, we will all look back with pride when we see the work being carried out, is being done the right way”

Henley Group is always privileged to be able to give back and with our many years of experience, we can share insight on how to best navigate this exciting and fast-paced industry we all love.

We look forward to our next talk… our expert builders better keep practicing their public speaking!

James Bishop, Senior Lecturer in Built Environment at London South Bank University comments:

“We are always looking to enhance the delivery of our courses for the students by bringing leading industry speakers into our courses, so were very pleased to hear from Josh and Jim with their guest presentation. We have had excellent feedback from the students and hope to continue to look for collaborative opportunities to work with Henley Stone moving forward”

Finally, looking back at our project archives over the years got us feeling nostalgic…
