Henley Restoration & Remedials has been featured in Yorkshire Business Insider, discussing our approach to refurbishment and remedial work on existing and heritage buildings.

Understanding before intervention

With heritage and existing buildings, the issues are rarely obvious. What appears on the surface is often the result of underlying movement, material failure or previous repairs.

Without a clear understanding of how a building has been constructed, how it has changed over time, and how it is currently performing, repairs can be ineffective or short-lived.

This is why condition surveys, investigations, and building pathology form a key part of our work before any intervention takes place.

Getting it right early

With experience dating back to 2012, our approach has always been the same. Take the time to properly assess the building, define the scope clearly, and resolve details early.

That includes understanding materials, identifying the cause of defects, and ensuring that proposed repairs are appropriate for the structure.

This early-stage work reduces risk on site, limits the need for reactive changes, and helps projects run more smoothly.

A practical approach to refurbishment

Refurbishment and remedial works require a different approach to new build.

It is not just about carrying out repairs, but about making informed decisions based on the condition of the building and how it will perform over time.

Poorly considered repairs can lead to ongoing issues. Getting it right from the outset leads to more durable, effective outcomes.
