Celebrating Excellence: West Bromwich Town Hall Wins Victorian Society Conservation Award
We are proud to announce that West Bromwich Town Hall and Library has been honoured with the Victorian Society Birmingham & West Midlands Group’s 10th Annual Conservation Award. This prestigious accolade is a well-deserved recognition of the exceptional restoration work led by Sandwell Council, standing out among strong competition.
As part of the Morgan Sindall Construction specialist team, Henley Restoration & Remedials played a key role in delivering complex restoration works that have helped preserve this remarkable landmark for future generations. Our team carefully repaired over 200 heritage timber-framed windows, some measuring up to 3 meters high and 2 meters wide, maintaining their original character and grandeur. Alongside this, we undertook intricate internal lime plastering and meticulously restored the tower’s iconic terracotta columns.

This striking Italian Gothic-style building, rich in architectural detail and Victorian heritage, holds a special place in the nation’s cultural landscape. Knowing our efforts have contributed to securing its longevity fills us with
immense pride.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Stephen Hartland, Regional Chairman, and the dedicated members of The Victorian Society Birmingham & West Midlands Group. A year after the project’s completion, it was a pleasure to revisit the building for a guided tour and the awards ceremony, an inspiring celebration of heritage conservation.
The restoration of West Bromwich Town Hall and Library exemplifies the dedication and expertise required to safeguard historic structures. We are honoured to have been part of this journey and look forward to continuing our work in preserving the architectural treasures that shape our communities.
